Martha Wise

Martha Wise was a 40 year old widow who lived in Hardscrabble Ohio .She was a lonely woman who after her husband’s death in 1923 decided to get hitched again and decided upon a guy called Walter Johns.However Martha’s family threatned to disown her and she decided to break up with Walter.

And then suddenly people started dying .First Martha’s mom on thanksgiving in 1924 died of stomach inflammation .On new year’s day 1925 Martha’s aunt,uncle and their six kids fell sick .Though the kids survived the parents died and the law officer grew suspicious.He came to know Martha had bought Arsenic from local drugstore he ordered autopsy of her aunt which confirmed his suspicion.

When she was arrested she said the devil asked her to do it .She received life in prison and died in prison in 1971 .
