When film Andhi was released in Cinema halls the Congress leaders went berserk. According to them the story of lead actors Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar was quite similar to that of Indira Gandhi and Feroz Gandhi. Therefore the film had to be banned despite it being a classic.

Janta party MP Amrit Nahata directed a movie by the name Kissa Kursi Ka. Because that film was based on the working of the Indira Gandhi Government then Information and Broadcasting Minister V. C Shukla and Sanjay Gandhi himself destroyed the prints of the movie in cinema halls. This was the reason why that movie flopped without a trace.
