Kansa was the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna .He not only imprisoned his elderly father but also his sister and her husband as there was a prophecy that her 8th son will kill Kans.
Inorder to stay alive he killed all his newly born nephews.However Krishna was taken by his father to gokul where he was brought up in nand’s household.Finally Krishna grew up and killed this cruel ruler.
